The Dragon Boat Festival is one of the four traditional Chinese festivals, and the Dragon Boat Festival celebrations in other parts of East Asia are also derived from the Dragon Boat Festival tradition in ancient China. The Dragon Boat Festival is celebrated on the fifth day of the fifth month in the lunar calendar every year. It was originally a summer festival to drive away the plague gods and sacrifice to the dragon. Later on, we had some historical figures in the Chinese region. The most widely known is to commemorate the poet Qu Yuan during the Warring States Period. Throwing Miluo River to commit suicide and die in his country, in 1939. When the war against Japan was on fire, the Chongqing Literary and Art Circles Association to commemorate the patriotic poet Qu Yuan, agreed that the day of Qu Yuan’s death every year on the Dragon Boat Festival was the Poet’s Day. Some claims are related to Wu Zixu, the doctor of the State of Wu, rather than Qu Yuan. The Dragon Boat Festival has various traditional nicknames, including “Dragon Boat Festival”, “Chongwu”, “Double Five Festival”, “Meat Dumpling Festival” (used in Hokkien dialects), “Zongzi Festival” and so on. In addition, due to the special cultural content developed, the Chinese Dragon Boat Festival culture is different from the festival culture of other parts of East Asia. Therefore, in order to distinguish the Dragon Boat Festival from other regions, it sometimes called “Chinese Dragon Boat Festival” means celebrated by the Chinese, or “Chinese Dragon Boat Festival” in China.
