Origin of Children’s Day:
Children’s Day is a festival set up to protect children’s rights to survival, health care, education, custody, and other rights, improve children’s lives, and oppose child abuse or poisoning.
Origin of Qingming Festival Holiday:
Nationalist government originally designated the Qingming Festival as the national grave-sweeping festival and did not have a holiday. In 1972, the government revised ”Qingming” as a national holiday with one day off. Jiang Zhongzheng passed away on April 5, 1975, his death was commemorated and held on this day. Since then, more and more clans have chosen to gather for sacrifices on the Ching Ming Festival following their ancestral customs and considering the cooperation of working holidays in modern society. Tomb-sweeping and ancestor worship on the Ching Ming Festival have become one of the important and common cultural customs in Taiwan.
